Fox News's Brit Hume: Hillary Speech Had 'Sharp, Lecturing Tone'

By    |   Friday, 29 July 2016 12:47 AM EDT

Hillary Clinton's historic acceptance speech as the first woman presidential nominee was marred by its delivery in "a sharp, lecturing tone" that risked putting off some voters, Fox News' Brit Hume says.

In commentary for the network's coverage of the Democratic National Convention, Hume said he thought Clinton's speech Thursday night "workman-like" but effective in going after rival Donald Trump.

Audio of the remarks were posted by Mediaite.

"Making herself more appealing to the audience might not have done as well," he added.

"She has a habit, when speaking, of breaking into kind of a sharp, lecturing tone."

He added that Clinton's tone is like being "called into the principal's office to be read the riot act," and came across too loudly at times.

"She has a great asset as a public person, which is a radiant smile, but she has a not-so-attractive voice," he said.
